Natural Hair Care Tip: Improving Diet To Promote Healthy Hair

Believe it or not…your diet plays an important role in the condition of your hair! Incorporate more green veggies and fruits in your diet. Eating leafy green vegetables, such as spinach, on a regular basis and in raw form provides iron, calcium,  Vitamin A, and Vitamin C to the hair and scalp. These nutrients aid in the production of sebum, which conditions the hair and promotes hair growth.

Drink lots of water and reduce the intake of  junk food, oily food, strong tea, coffee, and alcohol. Not doing so, you risk developing elevated levels of blood-sugar and insulin, which can have a negative effect on the hair follicles. You also run the risk of interfering with the absorption of minerals, such as iron, needed for hair growth.

As a dietary supplement for weight loss, I occasionally sprinkle kelp powder on my food. Not only does kelp help to boost your metabolism, it also promotes healthy hair. Kelp is rich in iodine needed for thyroid function. An underactive thyroid is sometimes the cause of hair loss or stunted hair growth.

Give it a try…not only will you benefit your hair, you will benefit your body as a whole!!!

Natural Hair Care Tip: Achieving Hair Growth With Rosemary

Long hair is a luxury and the majority of women wish to have healthy and beautiful hair. One way to get healthier hair is to steep 1/2 cup of Rosemary leaves in 1 cup of distilled water. The picture above shows dried Rosemary leaves I use in my natural hair care. You may purchase dried Rosemary leaves from your local health store, online herbal websites, or grow your own. Keep in mind, if you grow your own, you must take the necessary steps to dry it before use.

After you have steeped the Rosemary leaves and allowed the liquid to cool, add half bottle of your favorite shampoo. I recommend using a NATURAL shampoo, a shampoo free of sulfates, parabens, and made with certified organic ingredients. I don’t recommend using shampoos with harsh ingredients that can strip hair of natural oils.

Natural and Free will be coming out with a product line soon and will only offer NATURAL products that will benefit the mind, body, and spirit! I use only NATURAL ingredients for the hair products I’m currently formulating for my business. To me, NATURAL is the only way to go when trying to maintain healthy hair!

After combining the Rosemary leaf solution with your favorite shampoo, place it in a bottle and wash hair with it once a week, or whenever you wash your hair.

You may also use Rosemary essential oil in achieving hair growth. If using the essential oil, put a drop of Rosemary essential oil in a handful of shampoo before washing your hair.

Rosemary boosts thicker, healthier hair by unclogging pores and hair follicles, and also adds great shine. It is very refreshing and uplifting to the mind and spirit!

In addition, drinking Rosemary tea once a day promotes better circultation and better hair growth.

**PLEASE NOTE: ROSEMARY SHOULD BE AVOIDED WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE EPILEPSY, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, OR PREGNANT WOMEN.***

I hope you find this information useful in your quest to achieve healthy hair! Try it and let me know what you think!

You look in the mirror and observe your hair is snowing! You’ve been hit with a flaky scalp and dandruff. “Ugghhh, this can’t be happening!”, you may reply. Don’t worry! There is a solution to this dilemma.

Try massaging Aloe Vera Leaf Gel to your scalp and let it remain for an hour, then rinse your hair thoroughly. Be sure to use pure Aloe Vera Gel that is at least 99% organic. Aloe Vera is very much effective in fighting dandruff.

The “Good Hair” Smoothie: An Enriched Smoothie For Healthy Hair…Skin Too!!!

I’ve been on a journey to healthy hair and skin for awhile now. I went natural with my hair 3 years ago and locked my hair in Sisterlocks 2 1/2 years ago. Since then, I’ve been making sure I keep my hair as healthy as possible.

Let me not forget to mention the emphasis I’ve placed on keeping my skin healthy also. I’m currently finishing up certification to become a Certified Clinical Aromatherapist. I’ve learned a tremendous amount of information about proper care of the skin.

Today, I prepared what I will call a “Good Hair” Smoothie…LOL. The smoothie consisted of fresh looseleaf lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumber, banana, and almond milk. It was YUMMY and will be good for my hair and skin!!!

Drinking juice or a smoothie composed of carrot, lettuce and spinach will nourish the roots and nerves of hair thereby stimulating growth. It will also aid in preventing hair loss. Cucumber juice is beneficial for both skin and hair. The cucumber is high in silica which is a mineral that strengthens connective tissue, and is good for tendons, muscles, cartilage, bones, and ligaments. It is reported that silica is also good for skin elasticity, fingernails, complexion, and hair loss.

The “Good Hair” Smoothie

1/2 cup unsweetened non-dairy beverage, such as almond, rice, or soy

1 cup of fresh spinach leaves

1 cup fresh lettuce

2 medium carrots

1 banana (ripe)

1/2 large cucumber (with skin)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Incorporate this smoothie into your daily diet (at least 16 ounces) and you will start to see a difference in your hair and skin. Be sure to come back and share your experience with me!!!
